Dayan Viciedo Defects From Cuba June 8, 2008

As we all know, Cuba is putting a severe limit on the amount of baseball played in their country. However, players committed to and interested in baseball may choose to defect, and Dayan Viciedo made that choice quite recently.
At 19, Viciedo stands at 6′2″ and 202 lbs. He played for the Cuban World Baseball Classic team in 2006 and is often compared to Omar Linares, widely regarded as the best Cuban player of all time. Viciedo is said to be able to play 2B, SS, and the OF.
This kid looks like a good prospect. Of course with Latin American kids you always have wonder about their age. However, he looks legit, and at the right price the Yankees should take a flier.
Hat tip to MLBTR for this story.
